Guillermina Benavides is Professor of the master’s degree of Strategic Foresight at the School of Government and Public Transformation at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She holds a PhD from the University of Texas at Arlington and Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo Leon..She has attended executive seminars on future studies, scenarios and energy policy at the University of Oxford, the University of Houston and the Kennedy School of Government of the University of Harvard. He has participated in consultancy projects advising the Federal Government (2006-2007) and State Governments (2005-2006) and local Governments (2007) on public policy, economic economics and social development policies. Internationally, she participated as an external consultant for the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) in projects of the Inter-American Development Bank (2016-2017). She has carried out corporate foresight consulting for private companies in Mexico. Her research interests are future studies, strategic foresight, interinstitutional coordination of public policy and qualitative research methods. She is part of the Editorial Committee of World Futures Review by Sage Publishing and has participated as a reviewer for Technological Forecasting and Social Change Journal and the Journal of Social Policy and Administration. She also holds several publications in Spanish and English speaking journals such as Futures, World Futures Review and Espiral Estudios de sobre Estado y Sociedad.
The objective is to reflect if and how the field of Strategic Foresight and Futures Studies is using or taking advantage of Big Data and AI to implement futures research methodologies or to make better decisions. To identify what are the opportunities and the risks that people in the field of Futures Studies envision.
