Futurist, economist, political expert and university lecturer. Specialist in political foresight, international relations, government, and political analysis with a focus on futures studies & foresight. Member of the Association of Professional Futurists (APF) and the World Futures Studies federation (WFSF), he has given presentations and workshops at international events such as the "UNESCO Futures Literacy Summit 2020" and the "Asia Pacific Futures Network Virtual Conference 2020". He is the founder of the “Universidad del Futuro®”, an academic entity with courses, conferences, workshops and interviews on line, aimed to expand futures literacy in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to disseminate the work of international futurists and foresight practitioners all over the region. Mauricio has more than 20 years of work experience in the Mexican Government and the Mexican Congress, and as consultant, advisor and university lecturer. He holds a BA in Economics with Honors at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico), a MSc in International Administration and Global Governance at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a MA in Public Administration and Public Policy at Tecnologico de Monterrey. He is a graduate of the Specialty in Design of Tomorrow at CENTRO de Diseño, Cine y Televisión, México. He has made academic and professional stays at the Harvard Kennedy School, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, University of California at Irvine, The Quality of Government Institute (Sweden), and Latin American Development Bank (CAF), in Venezuela.
