Along with almost all aspects of our socio-economic systems, policing has rapidly lurched into crisis mode to help societies cope with the outbreak of Covid-19. Long term horizons have been significant truncated and uncertainty is high. The sudden transition from one normal to another, with the prospect of new post-Covid normals, creates a range of challenges for organisations tasked with public safety. Taking the Australian and New Zealand perspective, this session will explore these transitions, and highlight the benefits and challenges of undertaking foresight work within action-oriented organisational cultures.
